Vijayawada: The World Bank has expressed satisfaction with the skill development, self-employment and livelihood programmes being implemented by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) for the youth and women in the Amaravati capital region villages.
Gerald Paul Oliver, lead transport specialist for the Amaravati Integrated Urban Development Project (AIUDP) of the World Bank, reviewed the initiatives during a meeting with officials of the social development and strategy divisions at the APCRDA headquarters in Rayapudi here on Thursday.
During the meeting, V Ramulu, group director (social development) and Adusumilli Uma, group director (strategy), along with other officials, presented details of various programmes being implemented by APCRDA to enhance employment opportunities and improve livelihoods in the capital region.
The officials briefed the World Bank representative on free skill development training programmes, self-employment initiatives and livelihood support activities designed for youth and women in Amaravati villages.
They also highlighted the Job Melas being organised by APCRDA to connect job seekers with employment opportunities across different sectors and facilitate sustainable income generation.
The discussions focused on the progress of APCRDA’s social and economic development initiatives and their impact on improving the living standards of people residing in villages within the Amaravati capital region. Officials explained how the programmes are helping beneficiaries acquire new skills, secure employment and pursue entrepreneurial opportunities.
Paul Oliver appreciated APCRDA’s efforts in creating employment avenues for youth and promoting economic empowerment among women through targeted skill development and livelihood programmes. He acknowledged their positive contribution to strengthening the socio-economic well-being of local communities.
The World Bank official also noted that such programmes play an important role in fostering inclusive development and ensuring that the benefits of the Amaravati capital development project reach the people living in the region. Senior officials from APCRDA’s social development and strategy divisions participated in the review meeting.
