Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) in Katsina State has initiated plans to partner with renowned businessman Dahiru Barau Mangal to strengthen research, innovation, entrepreneurship and national development.
The vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Muhammed Khalid Othman, disclosed this when he led the institution’s management team to visit Alhaji Mangal at his residence in Katsina.
Othman said the proposed collaboration is aimed at leveraging the university’s research capacity to address societal challenges, create entrepreneurial opportunities, and contribute to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
As part of the visit, the vice chancellor formally invited Alhaji Mangal to serve as the Special Guest at FUDMA’s forthcoming pre-convocation lecture scheduled for November.
He said the lecture would focus on business, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment.
According to him, Alhaji Mangal’s remarkable achievements in business and enterprise make him an ideal role model whose experiences would inspire students, graduates, and aspiring entrepreneurs.
“We want you to share your journey with our young people and encourage them to embrace business, trade, and entrepreneurship as viable pathways to success, particularly at a time when youth unemployment remains a major national concern,” Professor Othman said.
He further revealed that FUDMA currently offers nearly 60 academic programmes and is committed to translating research findings into practical solutions that will improve livelihoods and support national growth.
He noted that the university is determined to build strategic partnerships with individuals and organisations capable of supporting innovation, skills development, and community-driven research.
Responding, Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal expressed appreciation for the visit and described the proposed partnership as timely and beneficial to both the university and the country.
He accepted the invitation to attend the pre-convocation lecture and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote higher education, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and human capital development in Nigeria.
The proposed collaboration is expected to provide a platform for stronger engagement between academia and industry, while encouraging research-driven entrepreneurship and practical solutions to the country’s developmental challenges.
