Free conference will help educators explore artificial intelligence, technology and classroom innovation.
ROBSTOWN, Texas — Robstown ISD is preparing to welcome hundreds of educators from across South Texas this week for Tech Connect 2026, a free conference focused on technology, innovation and the future of teaching.
The one-day event will feature education technology experts from around the country, offering educators new tools and strategies to help prepare students for an evolving digital world.
Rachel Medrano with Robstown ISD said this year’s conference centers on artificial intelligence and how it can support teachers in the classroom.
“This year’s focus is on artificial intelligence and how it can augment teaching that’s happening inside the classroom,” Medrano said.
One of the featured speakers is Carl Hooker, a published author and education technology expert. Hooker, author of The Learning Evolution, will deliver the keynote address and lead multiple sessions throughout the day.
According to Medrano, Hooker will discuss how educators can better connect with today’s students by using technology effectively in the classroom.
The conference will also feature Dr. Rochelle Pope, an attorney and educator, who will explain what teachers should know about artificial intelligence and the law.
Another featured presentation will come from the Tech Care Twins, twin sisters from the Houston area who work as instructional specialists and school counselors. They will share ways technology can support both classroom instruction and student services.
Tech Connect has continued to grow since its launch. Medrano said about 300 people attended last year’s conference, and this year organizers have already registered approximately 320 participants representing more than 22 school districts and charter schools.
“We’re very, very excited,” Medrano said. The conference is free and open to educators and others working in education who want to learn more about educational technology.
Registration closes Wednesday, with the conference scheduled for Thursday.
