TRAVERSE CITY — Northern Michigan Startup Week is coming back to Traverse City later this month.
Organizers say it will spotlight the region’s growing start-up economy with a focus on connecting entrepreneurs.
It’s all happening April 20 through April 24 and has been organized by Bradley Matson, a Northern Michigan native who founded the event in 2013.
The gathering started as a weekend and has now expanded to include dozens of development and networking events across five days.
“We really wanted a kind of event up here in Northern Michigan to both highlight what’s going on in the startup community here, and to bring people together to kind of discuss new ideas and make connections,” he said. “When you get creative people together in a room, good things tend to happen.”
The events include a multi-day innovation challenge, guides for raising funds and multiple panels with exerts in their fields.
Supporters of the week include Northwestern Michigan College, the MSU Research Foundation and the 20 Fathoms venture capital firm.
