Maruti Suzuki India on Tuesday announced the setting up of an advanced manufacturing lab (AML) at ITI Hassangarh in Rohtak, Haryana, as part of its CSR-led skill development initiative aimed at creating a future-ready manufacturing workforce.
The company said around 200 students will be trained in the smart factory lab during the first year. The facility is designed to replicate real-world automobile manufacturing environments and provide practical exposure in areas such as assembly, welding, painting, machining, mechatronics and safety.
The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s Skill India mission and seeks to bridge the gap between classroom learning and evolving industry requirements.
Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Through the Advanced Manufacturing Lab at Hassangarh, we are bringing real shop-floor learning and modern machinery into classrooms. This initiative, aligned with Skill India mission, equips students with confidence to handle industry-specific processes and nurtures talent for the evolving automotive ecosystem.”
Sachin Gupta, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Rohtak said the facility would help strengthen Rohtak’s position as a skill development hub while improving students’ employability through hands-on technical training and exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies.
Maruti Suzuki currently supports 31 ITIs across India in manufacturing-related trades and has established 18 Advanced Manufacturing Labs nationwide. The company also operates four Japan-India Institutes for Manufacturing (JIMs) in Gujarat and Haryana to provide training based on Japanese manufacturing practices.
