The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has expanded its digital education initiatives by launching two online certificate courses and inaugurating a new video recording studio at the Centre for Digital Learning, Training & Resources (CDLTR).
The courses, “Samsadhani Praveshikka: Learning Sanskrit Using Computational Tools” and “Advanced Malariology: Biology of Parasitism and Drug Resistance,” were formally launched by Vice-Chancellor Prof. J. Anuradha during a programme held on campus.
Addressing the gathering, CDLTR Director Prof. Salman Abdul Moiz said the launch marks the beginning of a broader effort to make the university’s academic expertise accessible to learners beyond the campus through online education.
He said the university plans to introduce several more online courses across disciplines, with future offerings expected at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The initiative aims to expand access to quality higher education by leveraging digital learning platforms.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Vasuki Belavadi highlighted the significance of SwayamPrabha, the Ministry of Education’s bouquet of 40 Direct-to-Home (DTH) educational channels. He encouraged faculty members to develop courses for the platform, noting that the content is also freely available on YouTube, allowing wider access to learners across the country.
As part of the event, Prof. Anuradha also inaugurated an additional video recording studio at CDLTR, strengthening the university’s infrastructure for developing digital learning content.
The Vice-Chancellor said the university would soon organise a series of faculty development programmes to train and support academic staff in designing and delivering online courses. The initiative is expected to enhance digital teaching capabilities and encourage greater faculty participation in online education.
